Day 1 / Koblenz & Remagen
After breakfast your Middle Rhine Tours guide will take you for a leisurely tour of Koblenz. Situated where the Rhine and Mosel rivers converge, Koblenz is a popular attraction for many visitors to the area. It has an abundance of cultural monuments and historic buildings set amongst cosy lanes, narrow alleyways and squares.
After lunch we saddle up and head north to the Westerwald National Park. The Westerwald is a low mountain range that's covered in thick forests and dissected by the kind of roads bikers dream of. This introduction to our touring area is characteristic of the riding experience you can expect throughout the rest of your stay.
We also make a brief stop at Remagen and visit the site of the Ludendorff Bridge, the only bridge across the Rhine to be captured intact by the allies in 1945.
Total Riding Distance: 70 miles
Gyrocopter Flight (Optional)
Enjoy the local sights and scenery high up in the skies with a Gyrocopter. Also known as an Autogyro, this type of aircraft is perhaps best remembered for featuring in the 1967 James Bond film You Only Live Twice. The 30-minute flight gives the best views possible over the region, a perfect opportunity to shoot some unforgettable holidaysnaps.
You can choose and pay for this option after your arrival - Price: € 80.00 p.p. |

Day 2 / Trier
The day's tour starts with a breathtaking ride along the Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and famous for its outstanding natural beauty. We also pass the Loreley Rock, where according to local legend an enchanting maiden lured navigators to their doom!
Our carefully chosen route continues on the superb quality roads that snake through rural countryside above the Rhine Valley. We take a well-earned rest at the town of Trarbach, to admire the scenery and take on refreshments, before resuming our ride to Trier.
Trier has many remarkable Roman monuments that are still largely intact. The Porta Nigra (Black Gate), the Roman Bridge, Constantine's Basilica and the Roman Amphitheatre are all well worth a visit. Trier is also a modern, thriving city with a large student population. The market place has a lively atmosphere; its wealth of beautiful architecture makes it one of the most magnificent squares in the whole of Germany.
On our return trip we ride a mixture of different roads including a section of de-restricted autobahn, ideal for those wishing to blow away any cobwebs.
Total Riding Distance: 180 miles |
Tuesday
Day 3 / Cochem & Nurburgring
Our journey to Cochem begins with a ride through the twists and turns of the beautiful Hunsruck region of Germany. An exhilarating riding experience takes us down in to the Mosel Valley and along the picturesque river road to our first stop of the day.
The old medieval town of Cochem is a magnet for motorcyclists. Reichsberg Castle dominates the whole area from its hill-top perch, and overlooks the cafes, bars and restaurants of the river promenade. After leaving Cochem we weave through the lush forests of the Eifel as we head towards the Nurburgring.
The world famous Nurburgring - Nordschleife is a circuit you can ride with your own bike. One lap is an amazing 13 miles long with more than 70 bends to challenge your riding skills (you can also watch from one of the many viewing areas). Other attractions include the brand new 'Ring Racer', the world's fastest roller coaster, and an interactive motor museum. Don't forget that all-important souvenir t-shirt!
1 lap of the Nordschleife is included in all our guided tour prices. If you feel like a little more practice then additional laps can be purchased at any time.
Total Riding Distance: 140 miles |
Wednesday
Day 4 / Wiesbaden
Another great day's riding takes us along the colourful Lahn Valley. Just past the town of Bad Ems we turn off into the Nassau Nature Reserve. Excellent roads, typical for this area and a joy to ride, skirt around hills and mountains as we make our way to Wiesbaden.
Wiesbaden is an old spa city that's repeatedly described as having an incomparable charm, it's also considered to be the home of 'Sekt' (German sparkling wine). Just outside the city centre is the final resting place of World War One fighter ace Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the Red Baron.
While in Wiesbaden you can enjoy the famous thermal baths and saunas or indulge yourself in a massage to ease away any aches and pains. One of the most popular places to eat is in the Goldgasse, this charming narrow alleyway transforms into an outdoor restaurant during the warm summer months.
Total Riding Distance: 120 miles
Using ropes and a harness you descend vertically down a 90 ft high tower in the classic abseiling position, or for the brave there's the House Running version. House Running uses the same equipment but the decent is made in a face down position. Qualified climbing guides that are also part of a mountain rescue team supervise this activity.
You can choose and pay for this option after your arrival - Price: € 20.00 p.p. |

Thursday
Day 5 / Rudesheim & Karting Centre
We head west from Koblenz towards the Gelbachtal, an unspoilt winding valley that's well known by local bikers for its beautiful landscape and bend after bend of sheer riding enjoyment. We then follow the sweeps and curves of the Rhein-Taunus National Park to Rudesheim, one of Germany's most popular tourist attractions.
Rudesheim sits on the banks of the Rhine and is famous for the vineyards that cling to steep slopes surrounding the town. The Asbach Brandy distillery is a firm favourite with visitors. The Drosselgasse, a narrow lane that boasts dozens of traditional German shops and restaurants, is also a popular draw. Outside the town centre is the Niederwald Monument from where you'll have a panoramic view of the Rhine below.
Towards the end of the day we stop off at the Conquest Karting Centre. This indoor track is ideal for any budding Michael Schumacher and can prove to be a demanding and exciting experience (see if you can beat the track record).
The first 10-minute session is included in our tour price, if you have any energy left, additional sessions can be purchased at any time.
Total Riding Distance: 120 miles |

Day 6 / Boppard & River Cruise
On the final day of the tour we relax with a riverboat cruise along the Rhine. Once on board you'll find there are plenty of facilities to make the hour and a half cruise as comfortable as possible. The restaurant and bar gives you an opportunity to sample the local food, beer and wine. Alternatively you can just sit back and enjoy the splendour of the Rhine Valley as you wind your way to Boppard.
One of the highlights of the day is a chairlift ride to Boppard’s ‘Vierseenblick’ (Four Seas View). From this lofty elevation you'll have a unique perspective of the largest horseshoe bend in the Rhine. There’s also a choice of cafes where you can enjoy refreshments while appreciating the exceptional scenery.
Before our return cruise to Koblenz we’ll take the opportunity to sample some of the wines produced in this part of the Rhine Valley. These wines are not to be confused with the Liebfraumilch, Blue Nun and Black Tower etc. to be found in UK supermarkets. You’ll be tasting top quality, prize winning wines.
Total Riding Distance: 0 miles (wine & riding don't mix!) |
Total riding distance covered during the 6 days of our Rhineland Experience Tour: 630 miles
